Clean Slate Design Ltd. finds its origin in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. Formed by Merionethshire Granite Co. and garden/landscape designer Aly Hooijenga who have been working together on several projects producing high quality products in Welsh slate. Our modern designs aim to enhance the natural character of slate and are transformed into a unique range of products by a team of highly skilled craftsmen using both traditional and modern techniques.
The main colours of Welsh Slate are as follows:
Heather Blue: Predominately blue with a purple haze.
Heather Red: A crimson colour, similar to red wine. It is rarer than the other two types of slate, consequently supply is limited. Heather red is probably the hardest type of slate to be found anywhere on earth.
Green: Extremely limited availability
Rustic Brown: A riven, brown, slate. The colour due to its high iron content. Superb for a weathered, natural look.
